I heard about a support group called RESOLVE that was for women, men and couples dealing with infertility. When I first about the support group, I thought it was weird and I would feel awkward going to something like this; however, I heard very good things about it. I told Andy about it and he thought it sounded like something we should try. Our first time going we heard many emotional stories that were beyond sad about miscarriages, failed IUI's, failed IVF's and embryo adoptions. Half of the time Andy and I had no idea what they were even talking about...what does IUI stand for? What does IVF stand for? What is this? Huh? We left the meeting wondering about so many things. I specifically remember one of the women telling her story about her 5th miscarriage at 23 weeks and how she is now going to look into adoption; this broke my heart and made me angry...why??? Why already? Don't give up, keep trying! I also remember one lady sobbing and saying how she had missed 3 baby showers in the last 2 months because she was too emotional to go shopping for a baby gift and couldn't attend the shower either; again, I thought to myself, oh come on, you have to support your loved ones and be hapy for them, I will never be like that. Andy and I learned a lot that night and the people at the support group were ABOVE AND BEYOND supportive and encouraging. No matter what they were going through they told me about procedures and what to expect from my upcoming surgery. I received email addresses from many of the people at the group and continued to speak with them through email. I received so many tips that would help my upcoming surgery go much smoother. I felt very positive and still to this day do not know what I would do if I did not go to the support group and meet women and couples that are just like us!!!
