The Work Up

Andy and I were given a procedure list of 11 items the doctor wanted us to complete but many of them had to be done on specific days during my cycle.  This was a bit difficult being that my next cycle was about to begin but we had a trip to Las Vegas planned in just 3 days! Right off the bat, Andy got his procedures out of the way- bloodwork and semen analysis.  Andy's bloodwork checked for: Hepatitis B & C, his blood type and Syphillis & HIV; all of Andy's bloodwork and semen anaylsis came back normal, awesome news!!! So now came my turn.....I started off by having an exam and ultrasound, then a genetics meeting and a TON of bloodwork all on August 15th. My bloodwork checked for: AMH levels, HPV, STD's, Hep B & C, antibodies, syphillis, HIV, CBC, hemoglobin levels, vitamin D level and vaccines....WOW! I remember counting the vials as she pulled them out of the holder to use for my bloodwork....9!!! She was going to be taking 9 vials of blood from me all in the same day that I was going to get my pap smear, exam and listen to the doctor talk about gentic testing!!! I received a call from one of the nurses 3 days later with my results- She said my pap, STD and HPV tests were all negative (yay!) and my bloodwork showed that I was negative for hepatitis, my blood type was A positive, my antibody levels were where they should be, I didn't have syphillis or HIV (yay!), my CBC was in the normal range, my hemoglobin level was "absolutely excellent!"  My AMH was also "excellent!" my vitamin D was in the normal range but the only thing that came back not normal was my rubella/german measles vaccine level came back borderline and I needed to go to my primary care physican to receive a booster of the vaccine....odd.  The nurse ended this phone call by telling me that my bloodwork for a 29 year old is the best she has seen in the 23 years she has been a nurse and that I was very healthy!!!  Moving on to the more invasive procedures of the work up......
